Elise For Life
The Elise for Life Charity is an appeal to raise £1 million for The Christie hospital in Manchester to help treat, care for and support those people who have cancer. The charity is the legacy of Elise Roberts who was diagnosed with the disease in January 2010 and battled courageously for nine months. The funds are to be split equally between Melanoma Research and the new Clinical Trials Unit at The Christie Hospital, which is where Elise received treatment. Jan Constantine is supporting this incredible cause and raising money to help Elise for Life reach their target.
The Great Wall Of China
In October this year Jan is to take part in the Walk for Elise trek on the Great Wall of China in her memory. The trekking challenge starts in Jinshanling with a vigorous walk involving climbing thousands of steps that loop along the mountains either side of the Gubeikau Gateway.
The aim is to complete 12 kms each day along the stony path, twisting and winding its way along the mountains which are interspersed with watchtowers. Although demanding, it will also be very rewarding, particularly on a clear day when you can look at the vast and beautiful mountain ranges and imagine when the wall was the frontline defence of Imperial China. Charity Sunflower Cushion
Having already raised an enormous £3,000 for the charity at a fabulously successful charity dinner/auction and raffle held on 26th June at the Arch Restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Jan is now turning her attention to how she can help with a more hands-on project. She has designed a beautiful and exclusive cushion for the Elise for Life Charity. It has been hand-embroidered with the charity’s emblem – a sunflower – onto natural linen.
£10 from the sale of each of these wonderful cushions will go to the charity and be a step further towards the £1 million target.
